Original VS New
What's Up Chat! Today I will be discussing the difference between the original idea me and my group had compared to the new idea me and my group have come up with. Here's how it went...
Original: So, in our original idea we decided to have a montage of our main character. This achieved the teenage dream aspect of our movie as we have a teenage girl listening to music, applying makeup, looking pretty, etc... In this montage we showed the setting of the movie (at Courtney's house), we showed Courtney's room (another film location), this include shots of plushies, paintings, and other miscellaneous items. And then in the montage we included our main character (Jasmine) applying makeup and writing in her pink diary just like a stereotypical teenage girl. Then our character would receive a facetime call from her friend. In this dialogue Jasmine would be discussing her plans for her date and her friends would warn her and tell her to be cautious of a killer that's been going around killing teenage girls. After this Jasmine would receive a call from her boyfriend telling her that he has arrived and to come outside. We would then film the boyfriend pulling up in his car. There would be a romantic dialogue between Jasmine and the boyfriend and then the killing would start. The boyfriend would take Jasmine to the passenger side, the camera would cut to a knife in the car, and then the boyfriend would stabbed Jasmine and the cameras will pan upwards towards the sky.
Changes: The are a lot of changes we have made opposing the original idea. To begin what sparked this change was my group felt that there wasn't enough to add to the slasher/horror aspect of the movie, like not enough suspense etc... Leading to them feeling like the killing was too random and unexpected for our viewer. This lead my group to changing a couple of things... One, the montage was cut down into only the makeup scenes to make space for more film time including the diary scene. The facetime call with her friends was cut out in order to cut down on the time as it "took to much time". The boyfriend would no longer be shown arriving at the house and instead Jasmine would go outside and see nobody there, this also meant no more romantic dialogue between the 2 characters. And instead of Jasmine being murdered outside she would instead be murdered while sitting on the couch and the boyfriend pops up behind her unexpectedly and stabs her.
Thats all for todays guys, see you yall in the next one!
