Late For School! Sound Story Project
Foley Stage: This is my foley stage for my sound project. This was the simplest part of the project as most of these sounds were created inside of my house. I recorded off of my phone so I can move around easier and get close-ups on the sounds I was making. Recording on my phone also made it easier to access the video so I can edit and trim them.
Completed Sound Story: This was my complete sound story project with no visuals. My goal for this project was to record a sound story based on a student running late for school. I started off with an alarm and dialogue saying "I'm Late". And then I proceeded with my morning routine, brushing my teeth etc... Finally, I recorded some of my clips while actually being in my school like the bell ringing and students talking in the background. I recorded all my videos in order based on how I wanted the story to go. I used Cap cut on my iPhone to edit these videos. Editing was pretty simple as Cap Cut allowed me to keep only the sound of my videos and removed the visuals. After this I just had to group my videos together, trim them, and remove some videos. I didn't like the sounds I made in some of the videos, so I decided to remove them and search on YouTube for the specific sound that I wanted. For the car engine starting I searched up a v8 car engine starting on YouTube, I screen recorded it off of my iPhone, and I added the sound to Cap Cut. I repeated this process for the hangar sound, closet opening sound, driving sound, and shirt fabric sound (to give the effect as that I'm putting on my clothes). After I screen recorded all the sounds I needed I just put them into place on my Cap Cut project and arranged them into how I wanted my project to sound. I reviewed my project to make sure everything was good and then I exported it onto my iPhone and uploaded it on YouTube. Since I've used Cap Cut before this editing process was really simple and I really enjoy using Cap Cut for video editing. Throughout this process I learned that as long as I apply myself I can really do anything. When I first heard about this assignment I thought it would be really hard and time consuming. But during and after the process I realized that this project was easier than I thought as long as I try. All in all, I learned how important the use of sounds are in filmmaking. Realizing that I can make an entire story just on sounds and no visuals was really cool to me. And now when I watch movie I tend to be more aware of sounds used throughout the scenes.
